CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Let's Be Honest! (ERIC ALBRECHT)

It was becoming annoying; no matter what I tried, I couldn't get Alison to want me as much as I wanted her. Whenever I found her alone, she would devise the silliest excuse to leave the place. I hated how she was avoiding me, but if I was being honest, it made me want her even more.

The fact that she was keeping herself away from me made me want her in ways that I have never wanted anyone. Maybe that was her plan to get me to like her and then stay away from me all along. I knew I sounded ridiculous, but it made sense to me. With Alison taking over my head, I had to let someone know what I was going through, and Michael was the only person that understood me.

"You did what!" He exclaimed when I told him about Alison and me having sex. "What happened to not liking her?" He asked.

"I don't know, I actually blame you. If you hadn't made me so drunk that day, I wouldn't have done it."

"Oh, alright, let's say the first time was my fault, but what about the second one?" He countered.

I was speechless; I couldn't think of anything to say in my defense. I had thought over and over about it, but I couldn't find why I had allowed it to happen the second time or why I wanted her all the time.

Before Alison, there were a few other women, but they weren't anything serious. After the first two times, I was already bored and didn't want anything to do with them. But with Alison, it was different; we have had sex twice; though I don't count the first as I was under the influence, it still didn't change the fact that I was crazy over her.

"Fine, let's say the second was straight up my fault, but I still stand on the fact that you pioneered the whole thing. Without the first, there would have been no second."

"Keep telling yourself that, man," he sipped his whiskey. "What do you intend to do now?" he asked, suddenly becoming serious.

"I really don't know; all I know is that I just want her. I want her like I've never wanted any other woman."

"Including Olivia?"

His question caught me off guard, and I stopped to think about it.

"The fact that you're even thinking about it is enough to show that you like this girl," he implied.

"I never said I liked her, I just said I wanted her," I replied.

Michael looked at me and started laughing hard. "What kind of denial are you in?"

"I'm being honest man, I just think she's cool, hardworking, and all, but I never said anything about liking her in the way you're thinking now."

I wasn't drunk; it was my first glass as I knew I had to drive home. But my head was spinning, and it felt like I would throw up. “Do I love Alison?” I asked myself. I had never thought of that possibility; I just thought I was lusting over her.
